The economic gloom and doom that’s been lingering these past few months has no doubt forced charitable giving off the priority list for many people.
But these free tools make it easy for anyone to give back to the causes they are passionate about. All it takes is a little time and energy.
1. Instead of Google, try www.goodsearch.com. Every time you search about $0.01 is given to the charity of your choice. There are many more like this such as: www.everyclick.com, www.magictaxi.co.uk, www.goodtree.com, www.searchandgive.com to name a few. For even more go here.
2. Shop at your favourite stores through www.goodshop.com. Every time you shop a % is donated to the charity of your choice.
3. Do you have a blog or social networking profile? Download banners and badges from www.socialvibe.com and every time someone clicks on one you earn points for charitable donations and other perks.
4. Chatterbox? Join the i’m initiative and every time you use Windows Messenger or Hotmail Microsoft will share a portion of the advertising revenue with the charity you select.
5. If you’ve got some old junk that could be someone else’s treasure, consider setting up an eBAY Charity Auction. Over $100 Million USD has already been raised through the EBAY marketplace.
6. Take part in online advocacy campaigns to encourage politicians and other decision makers to make social change part of their mandate. Care2 and Avaaz are great places to start.
